W. Gene Musselman became President and Chief Operating Officer of UPC Broadband, the largest division of Liberty Global, in September 2003 and is currently based in UPC’s corporate headquarters in the Netherlands. Mr. Musselman serves as a Director or Supervisory Board member for a number of UPC’s subsidiary cable operations, including subsidiaries in Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland. Mr. Musselman is an executive officer of Liberty Global and sits on the company’s Executive Management Committee.
Mr. Musselman became UPC's Chief Operating Officer in April 2000 and was a member of its Board of Management from June 2000 to September 2003. In September 1997, he became Chief Operating Officer of Telekabel Wien, an Austrian subsidiary. Shortly thereafter, he became Chief Executive Officer of Telekabel Wien. Except when working with Tevecap S.A. in Brazil from 1995 to 1997, Mr. Musselman has been with UnitedGlobalCom, Inc. and then its parent, Liberty Global, since 1991.
Mr. Musselman has been actively involved in the cable industry for more than 25 years. Prior to 1991, residing in the United States, he worked with The Hearst Corporation from 1983 to 1990 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hearst Cablevision. He also served as Director of New Business Development at Hearst’s Entertainment and Syndication Group in 1991. Previously, Mr. Musselman worked with Televents Inc. as Vice President of Operations and Marketing.
Mr. Musselman is American, but has lived in Europe for most of the past 15 years, in countries including the Netherlands, Austria and Hungary.
In March 2000, Mr. Musselman was awarded the EHRPFENNIG Award by the Mayor of the State Klagenfurt, Austria for his special services rendered in the economical sector and in 2004, Mr. Musselman received the “groBes Silbernes Ehrenzeichen des Landes Wien” granted by the provincial government of Vienna. Mr. Musselman was the first international business person to receive the award in 10 years.
Mr. Musselman earned a Masters degree in Industrial Relations from Loyola University of Chicago.
