Chello Foundation

Chello Foundation Logo The Chello Foundation is an international charity focused on advancing the education of children affected by HIV and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

Established in 2007, the Chello Foundation currently works in partnership with 14 local Non-Governmental organisations in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho and Rwanda. Children affected by HIV and AIDS are often among the The Chello Foundationpoorest in their communities - and they frequently drop out of school – or face extreme difficulties to access school. Many of these children have known extreme suffering and loss. The worst affected families have little money to pay for basic needs - let alone school fees, uniforms or school equipment like books, pencils and paper. Without the necessary school requirements, these children get sent home and eventually drop out.

The Chello Foundation works with partners who share a passion to create sustainable change for vulnerable children, their families and communities. As of May 2012, the Chello Foundation has already supported more than 5,500 children, providing opportunities for them to complete between 2 and 6 years of primary, secondary and tertiary education.

The Chello FoundationBennah is one of the beneficiaries of The Chello Foundation’s support. She lives in Uganda and was supported by the Chello Foundation to access a course in a Teachers College where she successfully obtained a certificate to teach in Nursery schools. She says: “I am so grateful and appreciative of The Chello Foundation support. I have been able to get a job, acquire more experience in teaching and I am now also able to support one of my sibling’s education and live a good life which wasn’t the case before. I have also been able to save from my salary and contribute to other needy children’s education. My sincere thanks once again to my sponsor.”
