UPC Hungary is the
largest cable television operator in Hungary.
UPC Hungary provides analog and digital video, broadband internet,
and traditional circuit-switched and digital telephony services (VoIP) to 881,000 customers as of June 30, 2010.
UPC Hungary’s customers are located in 22 major Hungarian cities and towns and their surrounding areas, including the capital city of Budapest, Debrecen, Miskolc, Pecs, and Szekesfehervar. Its network is 99% upgraded to two-way capability, with 66% of its cable homes served by a network with a bandwidth of at least 750 Mhz.
UPC Hungary also offers business customers located in its service areas a variety of internet and telephony packages, managed leased lines, and virtual private network services primarily to its small office at home (SOHO) customers and small to medium size business customers.
UPC Hungary provides analog and digital video services. An analog cable subscriber receives up to 46 TV and 17 radio channels and one premium movie package, depending on location. For its digital cable subscribers, UPC Hungary offers a package of up to 117 TV channels (including the channels in its analog service), including HD channels, plus premium programming packages. Through its digital service, UPC Hungary also offers DVR and HD-DVR time-shifting capabilities as well as on demand services (VoD).
UPC Hungary offers multiple tiers of broadband internet service with download speeds ranging from 1 Mbps to 120 Mbps. In July 2009, UPC Hungary launched its next-generation broadband internet service, UPC Fiber Power, with speeds up to 120 Mbps, utilizing Euro DOCSIS 3.0 technology. UPC Fiber Power is available to 91% of UPC Hungary’s two-way homes passed.
UPC Hungary offers fixed-line voice with traditional circuit-switched telephony, as well as feature-rich digital telephony via VoIP (Voice of Internet Protocol) over its two-way capable network throughout Hungary.
