UPC Slovakia is the largest cable television operator in Slovakia.
UPC Slovakia provides video, broadband internet, and digital (VoIP) telephony services to 285,000 customers as of December 31, 2009.
UPC Slovakia’s customers are located in seven regions in Slovakia, including the five largest cities of Bratislava, the capital city, Kosice, Presov, Banska Bystrica, and Zilina. Its networks are 89% upgraded to two-way capability with 93% of the homes passed served by a network with a bandwidth of at least 860 MHz. In some areas like Bratislava, the capital city, its network is fully upgraded to two-way capability.
Video
UPC Slovakia offers analog cable packages of up to 51 channels. For an additional fee, UPC Slovakia offers an HBO premium service to its analog customers. A digital cable subscriber may receive up to 66 channels, depending on the package (including the channels in its analog service). The digital offering includes multiple premium packages, DVR time-shifting capability, and HD programming.
UPC Slovakia also offers UPC Direct, a digital satellite television service that provides over 200 coded and free to air TV channels and numerous radio stations in digital quality.
Internet
UPC Slovakia offers five tiers of broadband internet service with download speeds ranging from 2 Mbps to 120 Mbps. In September 2009, UPC Slovakia launched UPC Fiber Power, its next-generation broadband internet service with download speed of up to 120 Mbps, utilizing EuroDOCSIS 3.0 technology. The UPC FiberPower service is available to 61% of UPC Slovakia’s two-way homes passed.
Voice
UPC Slovakia offers multi-feature digital telephony via VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to 81% of its homes passed.
