Switzerland

Cablecom, a UPC Broadband operation, is the largest cable television operator in Switzerland. Cablecom provides video, broadband internet, and traditional circuit-switched & digital (VoIP) telephony services to 1.6 million customers as of December 31, 2009.  Cablecom also offers mobile voice services through a pre-paid offering.

Cablecom’s customers are located in 24 of the 26 member states (Cantons) of Switzerland, including the major cities of Bern, the capital city, Zurich, Lausanne, and Geneva. Its nationwide network is 83% upgraded to two-way capability, with 83% of its cable homes passed served by a network with a bandwidth of at least 650 MHz.

For its analog cable customers, Cablecom offers a basic service of 36 video channels and 45 radio channels. For its digital cable customers, Cablecom offers a package of over 115 video channels and 100 radio channels (including the channels in its analog service) and a range of additional pay television programming in a variety of foreign language program packages and premium channel packages. Through its digital service, Cablecom also offers video on demand services (VoD), DVR & HD-DVR time-shifting functionality, as well as HD programming.

Internet
Cablecom offers eight tiers of broadband internet service with download speeds ranging from 250 Kbps to 100 Mbps. In September 2009, Cablecom launched Fiber Power in Zurich, its next-generation broadband internet service with download speeds of up to 100+ Mbps, utilizing DOCSIS 3.0 technology. The FiberPower service is available to 30% of its two-way homes passed.

Voice
Cablecom offers multi-feature digital telephony via VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to 83% of its homes passed.
Cablecom also offers a pre-paid mobile service to all customers in Switzerland.
